Storyboard and treatment

My story starts with a male character sitting on his couch alone in a dark apartment watching cartoons. A breaking news story interrupts his program to inform the general public that the Government has acknowledged 2012 as the official Doomsday, stating that they have discovered irrefutable evidence. People are instructed to make the best of the time that they have left and the broadcast ends with a cheery cliché about the future.

Cut to our male character slugging back a clear glass bottle filled with brown liquid, presumably liquor. He is drunk before he tips the bottle down, and he staggers out his front door to knock on his neighbor’s door.

She answers the door and there’s a cut to the inside of her apartment looking out at him. He spouts some unintelligable gibberish and she doesn’t understand. He snatches the remote and turns it to the broadcast. Her response to the story is similar to his, first shock and then a cut to her downing a bottle of clear liquid, she too is instantly drunk.

Our two characters are then seen staggering down the middle of a main street, destruction all around them. Cars are upside down, there are broken windows everywhere. The tack board in front of a church foretells hellfire and brimstone. It’s chaos and the whole town is going nuts. A fight breaks out in the background, and perhaps even a fire.

In the last few seconds of the video, a third character drives by the first two with a bullhorn in hand shouting at the rioters “Go home you idiots, it’s April Fools Day”

The characters and backgrounds will be drawn myself in Photoshop, and the animations will consist mainly of parenting. I will construct the characters and then mold them in After Effects until I’m able to achieve the look I’m going for. I’ll have to recruit two or three people to assist with the voice acting, but aside from that it should be a fairly straightforward (if not labor intensive) parenting excersize. There will be an emphasis on timing of movement and cuts for comedic effect. I’m hoping it also turns out to be something a few people get a good laugh out of.

Pixillation Concept

Here's an outline of what I'll be working with for my pixillation project. It's not so clear yet, but it's the underside of a couch with a judge's bench up against the wall. I've added a black background for now for the sake of illustration, but the walls will be white and carpet a different color.

I've got a dialogue line, so the mouth will be placed over the meatball in position of 'judge'. Of course the background will be filled in and detailed

The dialogue line is "of course, we all know they're guilty...the trouble is, we don't know the crime"
